Lyrics

Call of the Forebears

Clinker ships
Ride the waves
Bringing goods
Taking slaves

All they seek
Is a thrill
Thralls and land
To their fill

Crashing hard
On the strand
Spears aloft thus
Screams the warband

Give them naught
They will take
Stand against them
You will break

Slakeless
Hunger they hold
Reckless
Guided by the bold

Spreading
Over the earth
Midwives
To the age’s birth

Weapons bright
They alight
From their boats
To the fight

As the wolves
Seek the sheep
Buildings burn
Children weep

Crashing hard
On the strand
Spears aloft thus
Screams the warband

Give them naught
They will take
Stand against them
You will break

Crashing hard
On the strand
Spears aloft thus
Screams the warband

Give them naught
They will take
Stand against them
You will break

Call
Of the Forebears
Call
Of the Forebears

Hand

I was there when evil grew and gained a wicked girth
Shattered every fetter found upon the fearful earth
Sayings of the seers scaring mighty and the meek
Deep inside the earth the bright one delved for help to seek

Swarthy souls did smith the skein to shackle up the fiend
Six untruths together strong whose strength could not be gleaned
Dared our foe to twist his limbs within the lowly thread
Pride inside his harried eyes he grinned at us and said:

"You may bind my claws but if I shall not run again
Put a hand within my jaws as bond from all you men
Bond from all you men"

Hardy gods in shirts of steel yet not one stirred a bit
Till they saw upon his teeth my wrist in ease did sit
Felt the drivel dripping from the trickster’s first of three
Thrashed for naught against the silk his thralldom he could see

Thus he sank his fangs into my flesh and tossed his head
Snapping all the sinews so his hobbled maw was fed
Yellow lords bestirred then cried aloud in hateful glee
As the awful devil gnashed his snags in woe on me

Open one was bound with fetter threaded in the scream
Driven in the ground by hitter far within the seam
Maddened by the sleight of hand the imp was snapping still
In his mouth we set a blade to quell his wild will

Now his slobber floods the dale with hope until the end
Till he breaks away to haunt the fen to feed and rend
Fen to feed and rend
Rend
Rend
Rend
Rend

Blood Into Stone

High on the moor
Moon shining
Swords dripping gore
Wind whining

Shouts in the dark
Shields bursting
Two sets of foes
War-thirsting

But as
Night will wane
All will be slain

Sunrise
Bringing its bite
Freezing their fight

Daylight has shone
Blood into stone
Flesh, hair, and bone
Blood into stone

Daylight has shone
Blood into stone
Flesh, hair, and bone
Blood into stone

Among Us

My god lives among us
Spreading wisdom for our kindred
Living bitter in the ashes
Of a wasteland where we
Wither for all time

He breathes life into the meadow
Summer blooming green and yellow

My god
My god
My god
My god

Harken to his dreaming
Past the falsehoods of tomorrow
To a realm neverending
Never shaken never broken
For our sake

And as we have come to love him
You shall find that none’s above him

My god
My god
My god
My god

Souls floating bare
In another world
They dance as one
Songs from the hidfolk
Show the road we share
His will be done

Black is the night
When we lose our fear
And find the key
Our way is open
We need no light
To become free

Hidden from the crossmen
Long forbidden all forgotten
To us children of the
Rotten age of hunger that has
Sundered the old earth

Deep in wooded hurst and hollow
He is bidding us to follow

My god
My god
My god
My god

Souls floating bare
In another world
They dance as one
Songs from the hidfolk
Show the road we share
His will be done

Black is the night
When we lose our fear
And find the key
Our way is open
We need no light
To become free

My god lives among us
Spreading wisdom for our kindred
Living bitter in the ashes
Of a wasteland, where we
Wither for all time

Deep in wooded hurst and hollow
He is bidding us to follow

My god
My god
My god
My god

Melting (Credit: Stuart Mackenzie)

Thawing ices, worse than ISIS
Worse than the most deadly virus
Living harmless is desirous
How can we with absent-mindedness?

The earth is melting down
Our home and our playground
Won't be fit for our children when our world
Has melted down

Melting
Melting, melting, melting

Melting
Melting, melting, melting

Conflagrated and cremated
When the world is consummated
Devastated, populated
World of isolated mortal folk

The earth is melting down
Our home and our playground
Won't be fit for our children when our world
Has melted down

Melting
Melting, melting, melting

Toxic air is here to scare us
Fatal fumes from melting ferrous
All we discuss is superfluous
If we cannot keep our hands to ourselves

Miklagard

Miklagard
I warned you
To keep away
To keep away

Miklagard
It whispers
Too much to say
Too much to say

You’re losing your health
In a bid for its wealth and you’re
Wasting your life working
Other men’s strife for a
Dream
Gold in its Gleam

The harvest is dying and
You’re out there lying to
Dolts that you swindle and
Hearts that you kindle in
Lands
Beyond the sands

Come thee back now
Whence was lost thou
Oversea
To me
For thee

Seven years I waited
You told me one
And you’d be done
Seven years
I sweated
In fields alone
Cold to the bone

And where are the riches you
Pledged to our kindred so
You could be free of the
Plow and the bonds of the
Home
So you could roam

The men who have left us
Have left us bereft and a
The few that are coming
Are not worth our loving
We bide
Watching the tide

Come thee back now
Whence was lost thou
Oversea
To me
For thee

Miklagard
Its glimmers
Will blind the mind
Will blind the mind

Miklagard
Too easy
To never find
To never find

Never found thee
After twenty
Years in stone I
Hewed thy name
For love
For shame

No God But The Old Gods

I bring you dreadful tidings
Whispered from long-dead lips
Our lord has left our bedside
As our awareness slips

No light shines from the windows
The ill too weak for waking
Their minds lost in the shadows
Their blackened bodies aching

The welkin thick with thunder
It weeps its grief in darkness
The tears of heaven splatter
Upon the empty houses

No god but the old gods
Overhear our wailing
No god but the old gods
In the ashes waiting

No god but the old gods
Overhear our wailing
No god but the old gods
In the ashes waiting

The chills have come to find me
My skin a mess of blisters
In throes I tear my bedclothes
As rot chews on my fingers

Beseech our maker mighty
To free us from this nightmare
Yet stillness gives no answer
So I cry to his forebear

No god but the old gods
Overhear our wailing
No god but the old gods
In the ashes waiting

No god but the old gods
Overhear our wailing
No god but the old gods
In the ashes waiting

The churches hold no worship
The inns have lost their keepers
Green fields lie fallow wasted
The harvest took the reapers

No god but the old gods
Overhear our wailing
No god but the old gods
In the ashes waiting

No god but the old gods
Overhear our wailing
No god but the old gods
In the ashes waiting

Allfather

Witness, I hung
On the windy tree
Hanging for nine whole nights
Gored by a spear
A gift to my name
Myself for myself

I was not helped
By loaf or a horn
I gazed beneath me
Grabbing the runes
Screaming I grasped
From there I fell

Allfather
Allfather
Allfather
Allfather

Nine mighty songs
I took from the son
Of mother’s old man
I had a drink
Of mead that was dear
From the Soul-stirrer

Then I bore wealth
And wise I could be
I grew and got well
Word after word
I looked for words
Delving for deeds

Allfather
Allfather
Allfather
Allfather

Allfather
